In the year 1995, Former Representative Ching Plaza constructs the Butuan Sports Complex located in Libertad, Butuan City. 25 years later (Sunday, June 21, 2020, Father's Day), the sports complex was unfinished. There was no rubberized track oval, and lack of facilities due to lack of funds and new administration. This day, the DPWH R-XIII constructs the new convention center in Butuan City, with the capacity of 8,000-11,000 spectators. The construction was started on March 24, 2020. The main contractor was Northern Builders based in Tarlac City.

The only facilities will be used for every DepEd sporting events (Division Meets, Regional Meets, and Palaro) today was Butuan Polysports Complex in Tiniwisan, near PISAY-CRC.
